FJ 55 Wanted
« on: May 16, 2011, 01:35:59 PM »
On Friday my girlfriends dad FJ 55 burnt down. he was in the process of restoring it, he was almost finished with it ready for primer until the fire started. Were not exactly sure what caught fire on it but it deffinently burnt it up. the whole interior and the wiring is gone so is the roof and the glass. If anyone is selling one, parts, or knows someone selling an FJ55 post here ill post pictures of it after the fire.

This was his and His 8 Year old sons project, his 8 year old was devastated when he saw his FJ burned. They had a big four wheel drive trip planned this year.

appears that the body you have might still be more savable then what Ive seen around me
Sand, what fun, drop pressure to 12psi, stock tires are still digging, can't afford to get stuck, 8psi, still not working. Find a place to GET OUT, air up, un-lock hubs,  WAIT whats this, hubs are UN-LOCKED already. 2wd, 8psi, stock tires, Oregon sand dunes.

painless makes lots of wiring harnesses... and the interior, well, that can be custom or other! could modify the interior from many different SUVs to work... Or get it re-done, OR find yourself a rusted rotted rolled (w)recked rearended or otherwise ruined body with clean parts that you need

Man that sucks about the fire.Thats amazing that the body isnt more warped and buckled. I totally agree with Bog Toy, If the doors still close properly, I would say that it is salvagable. Finding OEM FJ55 replacement parts for the interior is gonna be sketchy, doable, but pricey. There are some catalog sources on the web that will carry the floor mats, door panels, dash cover, wiring harnesses and the like. It would be a ton cheaper though to use junk yard parts and the Classifieds.

It would be cool to build up something like this, rising up from the ashes, you could call it Project Phoenix!

Too late, my girl friends dad cut the old body and scrapped it. hes doing a body swap since the body on the one that burned was cleaner since he already did all the clean up work to it.
