Solid axle for 95 toyota tacoma
« on: Jul 06, 2009, 07:15:45 AM »
:hammerhead: I have a 95 Tacoma with the 3.4 in it sitting on 9 inches of lift running 37's, however the IFS is gone. and it seems cheeper to just SAS it. So I was wondering if anybody had any tips for the parts/labor needed. I know I'll need a new steering set up and I have to weld noew mounts for the leafs. Anything helps thanks :hammerhead:

Cool that helped thanks. How important do you think it will be to fork out the extra cash for the hydro steering? I'm running 37's and using it for a DD

if you are going to do more DD that off road i would go no hydro. I DD my 4runner with out hydro for about 3yr with 37 and had on issue. I do have hydro now and yes it works sweet but you can tell its there. My sas'ed t100 (my DD) has on hydro and i dont wont is on there. go with out it at first and get a feel for the truck then down the road add hydro if you think you need it. Are you going to run a locker in the front? I put a lockright in the front of my runner and thats when and why i got hydro, in 4wd it felt like i did not have power steering.

Okay cool, at first I'm just going to leave the front drive shaft out until I get more money together and then I think I'm going to go with 4.56's front and rear and I'll put a locker in it at the same time.

i would think about 4.88 gears. that's what i have in my t100 and with 37 every thing is back to stock as far as the speedo and what not. i think with 37 and and 4.56 you will be sluggish. i have a s/c 3.4 and i think it would suck having 4.56 gears and my t100 weights about 4200lbs so as much as a acc cab taco.  something more to think about.

Yeah good call thanks for the heads up. I should be starting the swap the end of next week so I'll try to get some picks up.

A lot of guys go with a dana 44 or a diamond if you wont to keep it more Toyota. I am running a 44 under my t100 and it dose just fine. A 44 will be cheaper than a diamond witch start at 900.00
