Hello
I'm new to this forum and I'm impressed with the amount of information here

I do have a question about my A340H transmission( 95 4runner 183,400 miles 3.0 A340H SR5 4.88 gears stock)
I have a whirling noise that I can hear when I put it in 1st and give it some gas up to shifting into 2nd gear.I also have the same whirling noise when I down shift from 2nd to 1st.
I also have a lot of slack in the transmission when I put it in any gear when warm (delay then slam). when I drive it letting off the gas and accelerating I can feel some play.
I also have some sort of roughness when the engine is at idle and also when driving down the road. The roughness is more noticeable when driving with the O.D. off, and I can feel the roughness in the floor board and shifter and console.I also feel some sort of roughness when coming to a stop without braking (just using transmission down shifting to troubleshoot then brake for a stop).
I have replace the u-joints and have removed the read drive shaft to eliminate it as a possible cause.I have also done a compression test and my numbers are...
#1.=166
#2.=170
#3.=167
#4.=167
#5.=166
#6.=165
All cylinders are firing...sooooooo I'm thinking maybe the T.C.(i have done a stall test and my stall speed is 2800 and I know the engine is healthy no bogging down during this test).I do know their are needle bearings in the T.C. and a lot of parts in the A340H
any advice will be appreciated
