unless you are running low range on the freeway, there shouldnt be any effect.... hi range is still the same as it's always been

now if this was a comparison of before and after, you have an extra tcase now, and thats heavier than what your truck used to be......

You are turning more gears which means more drag.

yes, but wouldnt their be even more mpg loss in the city as well? he didn't say he had a problem with that..... and its still 1:1 in hi range......

Well no he did not, but it's hard to track MPG in stop and go traffic.. But more gears and more turning mass equals more drag..
What else has he done to the truck...tires? diff ratio....too high, too low?  etc

You still have more gears turning, does not matter they are still turning.

Some people think that adding stuff to your rigs does nothing to your MPG. Lifting, bigger, wider tires mkes it like you are pushing a brick down the road. With all the stuff I have done to mine plus being a 3.0 I get 9-10 MPG.

For those that are unfamiliar with the inside of a Toy tcase, the reduction gears are always spinning whether they are engaged or not. So its that much more drag, I would imagine about 1-2 MPG.

Thank you for all reply`s :)
It is a 96 XCab 2.4 Turbo Diesel with sas 5.29 and 38" tires.
Around 4700 lbs
Before dual it used 0.29 gallons on 6.2 miles or 1.1 liters on 10 km
now it use 0.4 gallons on 6.2 miles or 1.5 on 10 km

I understand that there would be more drag and weight when an extra tcase are mounted.
but I think that all the stuff are the answer for my MPG,more weight less MPG :hammerhead:

Thank you anyway

My guess is that it gets nearly the same mileage but you are unconsciously using a heavier foot to compensate for the increased drag and resistance.

If you're only going 6.2 miles, the transmission/transfer cases won't even be warmed up......

The thicker oil would be lots of drag...........

We measure liters used on 10 km like you say mpg :)
Checked my airfilter today and it was very dirty,so I hope it helps to clean it.
Every time I fill up I do a check of how many km driven and how much diesel used.
Gasoline and diesel are expensive in Norway around $ 7 for 1 gallon

I thought it was liters per 100km........

So with the shorter distance, I thought that was all you were travelling.
