Author Topic: To ARB or Not to ARB? (Read 2540 times)

OK so Brian recently acquired an ARB Bull bumper for his Taco. Now he's on the fence whether he wants to put it on or not. We're so used to the way it looks with the brush guard that's always been on it and we're just afraid to make the plunge I guess.

So....opinions are in order! Here are a couple pictures of trucks we found on the internet that have the very bumper that he just got:

Here's what the truck looks like now with just a regular brush guard on it:

Sooooo what do you all think? To ARB? Or NOT to ARB?? THAT is the question!

Swap it. Those ARB bumpers are stout. My friend had one on his Taco and he rear ended a car going 40 mph and it didnt even phase it. Looks way better with an ARB, plus then you can get a winch too

Holy cow it's unanimous so far! I guess it'll end up going on!

He was super excited about it when he had the opportunity to get it. It was on a friend's Taco that was goin to the crusher for the big frame recall, and the friend sold it to him for pretty cheap. I'm not sure what made him start questioning it, but since we now OWN the thing, I sure am glad you guys agree we should use it. hahaha

Guess we'll have a regular brush guard to put on Craigslist soon......

If I was a DD or an expedition model then maybe. Trail and rocks, I would go lighter and put the tubes where they count. My humble opinion and

Do it! Looks good and well built, just doesn't afford a great approach angle.

i never even thought to cut the tubes off. that would look way better i think. i cant seem to find any pictures of this being done even though i know it has.

He ran it without the stock tubes for a while but then tied some tubes of his own into the mix

My only concern is that bumper looks like it weights a ton!! Not sure I'd want that on a light rock rig. How much does that thing weight?

It's also HUGE and seems to hang really low on the truck. Could be a great rock anchor.

Since you have both of them just swap it over and see for yourself how it looks. Personally I think the stock Taco looks sedate, so anything is usually an improvement.

Since you actually take the Taco on trails, the ARB bumper will actually provide protection, and not get pushed back into the fenders like the oem one will if/when you hit something off-road.

I love mine but, it seems to ben bending down. Im going to recheck the bolts make sure nothing is loose but it almost looks likes it pulling the mount out of the front of the frame. That my only complaint other than that it kicks ass

Thanks for all these great opinons guys!

We only do light trail riding with this one, so the weight and angles and stuff aren't too much of a concern for wheeling. But we'll certainly keep Snowrunner's bending issue in mind when installing it.
