I am looking for the cause of a W56 transmission popping out of gear. It pops out of 3rd gear often. It also pops out of 1st gear sometimes. I have replaced the shifter socket, but I still have the problem. Any help would be appreciated. The input bearing is new. Thanks

This transmission also makes noise in 3rd gear. I am told it always made noise in 3rd gear from new! I don't see anything bad in it.

Sounds like shift fork to me

If it has body lift that is a common issue.

3rd gear noise is a bad bearing. No it didn't make noise when new.

No it didn't make noise when new. Logged YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.
