more front flex?
« on: Jan 04, 2009, 08:13:11 PM »
What can I do to get the most flex out of the front of my 82?  I have 4" leafs with 2" lift shackles and they do fair.  What can I get that will step it up a little bit?  I have been told revolver shackles, but have never seen any used so not sure what will help.  Ideas?

i would say look and see if your shocks r limitting your flex or brake lines if not then u mite try differnt springs. i wouldnt use revoling shackles.

the springs do pretty good, they were a cheap set to get me started.  They were direct bolt in replacements, so I would assume most of the higher end springs are probably longer than the stock ones?

I am not being limited by my shocks or brake lines, they are both sufficient.  I actually ran without shocks for a while to see if that was the problem (made me sea sick).  Maybe a longer shackle or just suck it up and get better springs

What kind of springs do you have?  the stock steering can also limit your flex.  Read some build up threads as well.

Save some money watch the 4 sale boards and get a good front set from TG, Marlin, Or allpro. Do the crossover steering so you dont wast your time and money with j-arm problems. Do it right the first time. It will be cheaper in the long run.JM :twocents:

look at the thickness of the springs you have,  if they are over 1/4 inch thick, they are limiting your flex

thick leaves SUCK

my old springs (before the wreck made front stock fronts and 2wd s10 leaves)

Dont put revolvers in the front and remember that bigger shackles decrease your pinion angle which will start a nightmare with you front driveline.

guess i should give more info.

i already have highsteer

they are 4" procomp springs, definately on the list is a new set.  I put some better bump stops on yesterday, once my limit straps get here for the rear I will see what my front end will do.  I am afraid I will drop my rear springs out if I try it now
