Flywheel balance?
« on: Jan 08, 2009, 12:26:40 AM »
I´m changing the clutch in my ´89 2L and was wondering whether or not the flywheel is balanced or if the crankshaft is. I ask because we had to take the flywheel off to dremel the old pilot bearing out and forgot to mark the wheel to the crank.

I think its the same flywheel as the 22RE, its the same clutch anyway. The flywheel has three spots where some material has been machined off.

I hope someone knows because I´d rather not have to bolt it up eight times in a trial and error way to put it on right.

I'm pretty sure they're neutrally balanced.

Does that mean that the crank and flywheel are both balanced independently? So I could just put the flywheel on at any degree and it would work like that?

Great, then there should be no issues with this clutch job.

Thanks. :gap:
