Need help with cases
« on: Nov 14, 2008, 09:36:23 PM »
OK, I am running dual cases with a twin stick mated to a turbo350 tranny. The front case is a forward shift and the rear case is a top shift. I dont see how the rear case and the front case are going to work together.
What do I do with the shift forks on the front case?

convert it to a top shift..... you cant use the forward shift thing because you arent using a tranny that can do that

:headscratch: are you sure? the AA adapter has a slot cut out so you can run a forward shift, the rails arent going to be attached to anything in the tranny itself.
Im thinking, I will have to run a shifter in the front case.  :dunno:

here is what I got. Look at the difference from the shift rail and shift fork pin hole with the shifter.

I think im going to have to weld the key stock to the shift rail and run a shifter in the front case. What do you guys think?

I have been though this. it took me about 3 hours of cuting and welding to get my forward shift to work with the aa adapter. the big think is i had to cut a hole in the aa adapter to slide the shift rail out the front a few times to get the cut and fork welds right. and i did it all assembled in the truck. i think i took a 1/2 off the end to get it to work. you have two shift forks get to cuting and welding.

Looks like you need the shorter forward shift rails.  My th350/yota adapter from AA had the shifter in the front too and it was a direct bolt in deal...

uhm why not mark the shaft where the hole needs to be, drill it and then hack off the excess in the rear?

Why do you have to notch it? the shifter pivots from the center.  Is the adapter not cut correctly?

edit: looking at the shift hub, that is in high range? why not slide the shaft forward and drill it?

I see now you had the fork the wrong direction earlier.  is there enough shaft to still be in the backside of the adapter and redrill the hole?

yeah it was backwards. i actually dont have to redrill it, just notch the AA adapter were i had it marked and make a plate to mount the shifter.
