Here's the story...

Took the beast mud bogging, hit a deep puddle, truck sputtered and stumbled whenever I hit the throttle.  Ran it for a while, eventually the moisture burned off and it ran ok except for a sputter and loss of power at certain RPMs.  Upon closer inspection, realized I needed new wires, so I just replaced the whole setup.

I installed the new cap, rotor, wires and spark plugs as well as changed the oil.  Took it out for a drive and around 2600 rpms through 3000-3100 rpms it sputters and loses power until I plow through and get up into 3200+ rpm range.  It sputters just like my chevy s10 did when the distributor cap was shot, but its brand new, so I don't know what's going on.  Any ideas?

i agree mine does the same after it gets wet. if your truck doesnt rev over two thousand rpm then your tps is wet if it just sputters at 2500-3100 your afm is not getting the right reading from the computer an its most likely wet.

hope this helps

Turns out it was the fuel filter.  The guy who owned the truck before changed the stock fuel filter to an in-line filter for easier access.  Its one of those cheapie glass-bottle type things from autozone.  It works good, but it gunks up pretty quick.  Anyways, I changed the filter and it works perfect now.  Thanks guys!

mine sputtered bad starting around 2200 or soo ended up being an engine ground, have a quick peak. there on at the drivers front near the timing cover ditto on the other side, one bolter between the upper and lower intake manifolds, and a little baby one at the back connected to the firewall. I was changing my injectors and forgot the one on the intake.

Hope this helps
