I have to start the engine up on the starter if the outside temperature is just wrong.
The specs for the cold start injector timer are definitely ON below 86 degrees and definitely OFF above 104 degrees (the range is no doubt for manufacturing tolerances).
Well after sitting overnight, then sitting in the sun, the engine temp is 90 degrees where the cold start injector timer is (measured with IR gun).
I checked it with a ohmmeter, and at 90 degrees then timer is off (so it meets the part specification (barely)).
BTW, the fuel rail is pressurized, I've jumped the check connector so the system pressurizes before cranking.
Any colder, and the engine starts right up as the cold start injector timer is on, and any warmer the engine starts right up too.........
Seems I've hit a no-mans land area for starting my engine.
Is there another toyota part (with same connector) that has a slightly higher temp range (say 95,113 vs 86,104) ?
Or should I just rig a switch to ground out the injector for cold starts?
