aftermarket parts quality
« on: Jul 02, 2008, 03:38:45 PM »
this isnt a thread about trail-gear or marlin.... nor OEM

this is about buying parts aftermarket.... from places like kragen's/shuchk's/checker, autozone, napa, advance, pep boys, o'reily, etc

who has the best quality replacement parts.... this ranges from anything to everything for all vehicles.... stuff like balljoints, timing chain kits, master cylinders, brake stuff, etc

currently i am looking @ getting a bunch of stuff for a durango, I have found autozone has their duralast balljoints for $60, but found some MOOG brand balljoints for $77, have found coni-seal for $41, acdelco $64

who has the best quality? who carries what brands?

also i see the name dorman a lot

As far as I've seen, all the listed parts stores sell different brand parts.  There was a time when you could go to napa, kragen's or vatozone and get a beck arnley part.  Bottom line is you need to know what you're buying before hand and price shop from there

Made In China sucks..... (not a TG reference) but you gotta be careful, hate to say it but I'd go with the oem ball joints also check with Dodge some models have a recall on the ball joints.

sure oem is great, but it is not always cost effective....

i have checked, and the recall is for the 4wd durangos, not the 2wd

its not that bad, found them pretty cheap and shouldn't take long to do (they are like the BJs that were on my 2wd yota)

just wnated to see if Moog was better than Autozone Duralast or?
