shackle tube???
« on: Jun 20, 2008, 07:15:46 AM »
I have searched everywhere and just can't find any advice about front shackle tube location.... should I push the to the front of the body mount frame or the center and just adjust the shackle angle by moving the drop hanger? let me know what do you think or have done.....

Depends on what springs you are using.

For rears up front I like 43.75" from cent of front mounting bolt to center of shackle mount bolt.

When mine were installed they were put in the center of the body mount and the front hanger is installed flush. I have run many different springs over the years and have always had a good shackle angle. Right now I am running Marlin 4" springs.

I vote for setting the jig as close to the front of the body mount as possible, then adjusting the front hanger for the appropriate shackle angle. Be shure and allow for the springs to settle. I know they may be old used springs, but they still may settle some.

Do not know, I have never ran rears up front.

If you plan on moving the hanger forward I would run some braces from the springer back along the frame, I do it without having the hanger. In my opinion it helps to strenghten the front of an already weak spot on the frame.

stock appears to be mounted right in the middle of the bodymount
