does anyone know where it is at on an 84 pickup short bed.

just in front of fuel tank.  I think you could access it right from in front of rear passanger wheel.  At least that is where it is on my 83.

replacing the filter on a carbed truck is easy, takes no more than 5 minutes... it's located between 2 bedmounts in front of the passenger side tire. there are 2 little spring clamps you just squeeze and toss in the new one. the filter resides in a little clip... my pics below are on a 3" bodylifted truck, so it was easier for me to do it than for most people, but isn't bad, I had no problems changing it before the bodylift...
