project solid axle beings (build up thread)
« on: Dec 25, 2007, 09:26:32 PM »
hey, ive been floating around this forum for quite sometime and i figure its time to introduce myself and what im driving. My names Drew, im 17 and from Southern Rhode Island. im currently a senior at my local high school and am looking into studying engineering. now enough with the lame :pokinit:. I'm currently driving a 93 Toyota pickup. ex-cab 3.0 DLX 4x4. Since i bought it in the summer of 06, i have added 10,000 miles , added a body lift with 33x12.5x15 on crager wheels. added a rear light bar and fabbed up a rear bumper for it. As for electronics ( i work at a car audio and electronics store) i have one 10inch infinity sub, with 2 5.25 kickers in the rear with 4in kenwoods in the front. all ran off amps except the two fronts. along with those i have a radar detector and a cb radio.
My future plans for the truck are custom rock sliders , an intense front bumper , and a 4 inch suspension lift for it with new 4.88 gears and 36's

here is a picture of what it looked like when i brought her home....

and here is the latest picture of the truck as of now...

june 20 2008

picked up the solid axle for the build.its out of a 79.5 first gen. it hasbeen sitting out back of my buddies house for a while now but what i think i need is all there so its worth it. plus i got it for free so thats even better. first thing i ask is how do i get the thing looking clean and good to go. ill be putting a new diff in , new bigger brakes, armor, covers, rebuilding the whole thing so how do i go about cleaning this beast?

here are pics.

any tips or pointers? all advise greatly appriciated
