Topic: Towing with a 2008 Tacoma

So I searched the threads and cant come up with an answer. I have a 2008 Tacoma Access cab 6 speed with the TRD offroad and tow package. I just finished the build of my 82 and want to go wheeling but dont want to risk driving it to and from the trails after all the work I have done. Has anyone towed on a car trailer with this setup? Ive seen alot of people who have done worse and better but will this safely work? And how do you post pictures on this thing? Im drying to show off the newly finished rig! thanks

I tow about 4900lbs with my V6 4Runner, I think you'll be ok.
Helps to have trailer brakes though.

Cool thanks! Uhaul said they wouldnt rent me a trailer because my tow rig was not big enough. But i have trailer brakes.

I flat-tow but when I had my 80 Toyota I towed my Willys with it, I used to tow a 18' travel trailer with my 86 4Runner, I had a 2001 Ford Ranger and I towed my Willys and my 80 Toyota with that. I have to admit that the Ranger was scary to tow with but all my Toyota's did fine.

Uhaul  wont  let you rent a  trailer  if  you dont have a chevy, ford  or dodge  full size  and a v8,  they  only go by what some idiot  with a college degree  in panty raids  came up with for a  computer program

Thanks for all the advice I bought a 16 foot dual axle tailer and put in the brake controllers and we towed just fine. Gas milage sucks but everything was perfect!
