Use FJ 80 diff for SAS??
« on: Jul 20, 2004, 05:15:39 AM »
I know I want to do a SAS on my 93 toy, not really sure if I want to use a Pickup axle.  Has anyone tried using a front diff from an FJ80 in their truck.  I'm tryin to avoid the whole wheel spacer thing if possible cause the truck is a daily driver.  Any info would be appreciated.  By the way, has anyone tried Marlin's SAS kit??

Yes actually there is a Marlin sas kit being put o a 94 now.  And yes the 80 axle has been used on a few sas's with good success.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

An 80 front does have the advantage of width however, no after market bifields and hy steer is way expencive.  I would use the hp third and the rotors and sell the rest if you already have it.  Wheel spacers are not that bad if you maintain them.

don't really need to worry about hysteer on an 80 series front imho, since the tie rod is behind the axle and it's crossover from the factory

My truck is my DD w/ a wide rear axel, no wheele spacers, dont reall notice any bad charteristics 'bout it. Im eventually gonna do the IFS hub converison, but I have a Brif situation on my hands.
