If its still a factiry unit I'd take it off and sell it for scrap.  Then buy a cheap aftermarket one from the autoparts store.  The platnium in a factory Toyota cat is worth a lot of $$$.  They're popular with thieves too so you would kill 2 birds with 1 stone.  The aftermarket won't last as long but it'll still get 100k.

You could have a muffler shop test the back pressure. But it might be better just to get a new one as mentioned previously.

I've been hearing about this whole platinum cat thing I have an old stock one in the garage. Whats it actually worth?

I think you could get 40-100$ but it might be hard to sell it as an individual to a scrap supplier with all the recent theft problems

even with all the thefts, i doubt it would be hard to sell, jsut drive through the ghetto industrial areas.... near a strip mall of junkyards there is a place that has a sign that says $$$$ for you Cat

I bought a replacement magnaflow for my 87 recently.  Cost around $80 for a bolt in replacement.  Needed it because I failed a smog check.  I drove to Downeyoffroad which is in my area, they stock the cats, bought it slapped that sucker in and it passed with flying colors.

Nice because its a bolt in and didn't have to do any welding.

Sell it on Ebay. Search for scrap platnium to get an Idea of what yours is worth.
