attention Marlin Crawler spring owners!!
« on: Dec 30, 2007, 03:07:50 PM »
im thinking about buying marlins front springs

i want to put 4x4labs steering on my rig, and dont have the distance required between the oilpan and where the tierod will go

so i need to know-
what springs do you have?(lift height)
size of tyres
pics
the distance between spring pin, and a flat edge placed on spring bushings, like the pic shown

thanks guys

I like the idea behind the 4 x 4 Labs arms but both rigs I have seen them mounted on were to tall for me. I looked into putting them on my rig and after measuring I would have had to have 5" springs with the bumpstops placed to give me about two inches from the axle. Not enough compression in my book. Maybe if you did a engine/tranny lift it would be OK but then you are moving the COG up.

Tire size will have nothing to do with clearance and at this point in time I cannot give you the spring measurement because my rig is on jackstands on all four corners.

Do you want the installed sitting on the wheels measurement or un-installed lying on the floor of the shop measurement? I have a brand new set of 4" lying on the floor of the shop right now.

I run the 5" MC springs but don't think I will be of much help to you since I run a V8.  Thats a lot of extra weight on them springs and they are pushed down more than normal.

I have MC 5" springs front and rear on 38s. keep in mind this is still with only 2 runs on them so they are not broken in yet. I  have cut 2" off the front fenders all the way around. sorry missing fender in first picture.

:smack: I forgot to measure today.  I am at work now and when I get off work at 3AM I am going home waking up the wife and son and we are going to Charlotte for a few days to meet our new nephew.  Sorry man.  I will try and do it next week.  Crawlerdan  :slap: Topar.

Those are 35 krawlers but i ran 36" iroks wich are realy 37's little trim on the fenders no bumps rubbed a little totaly
tweaked and has a 3.slow but might go to 6" on the rear 3 years and alot of trips dropped a little but flex realy good
don't plan on buying any other brand unless i decied to go with alcans with johnny's. :turtle: :burnout:
