axle relocation plates?
« on: Nov 22, 2007, 11:35:11 AM »
Anyone used axle relocation plates to ove their front axle forward?  I'm looking to gain a little clearence between the 35's and the front cab corners behind the front wheels...  I'm still running the stock steering (1983 frame) with the J arm ball flipped for now.

Sky manufacturing says the plates can move the front axle forward 1".

It's a little more work, but you can just drill a new hole in the spring perches behind the factory hole.

Yeah, I was just reading about that...  So the hole needs to be in front of or behind the existing hole?

:hammerhead:  Behind, to move it forward...  Must be the turkey!  I think I will do that instead of buying the relocation plates.

tub the firewall. moving that axle forward using stock steering you will need to shorten your draglink too

You will also have to shorten the torque rod.

I ran into a problem when I relocated my axle doing the hole drilling bit. It changed the caster on the front end and I picked a up a bad "death wobble" But I moved my axle back so it may not effect your in that way.

I think I will tube the firewall first, then see where I'm at from there.
