relocation plates
« on: Dec 01, 2007, 11:46:18 PM »
I found some relocation plates that move your axle 1" forward or backwards, can these be used in the front? Ive heard you could only run them in the back but don't know why. I want my front axle pushed 1" forward for better firewall Clarence.

I've heard of people doing it with no probs. What you don't want to run up front are lift blocks.

no lift blocks I'm already at 7" total lift dont need any more. can any body think of any disadvantage to running these things in the front, it just seems to easy to be true.

I have some reallocators that I have been debating to throw on the front or not. I want to see what people think too!

To a small degree they will cause more postive caster and will also push the pinion angle down.

You can just drill what you got. You still have to drill the axle perch to move the pin. if you want to make it easier and the price is right, go for the plates. But it is not bolt on.

just drilling new holes in the perches seems like the way to go

I just installed some, they are a simple bolt in, just drop the ubolts & slip them between the perch & spring if you don't want to pull the whole axle. You do have to be careful about clearance between the tie rod & drag link no matter what you do :twocents. I used a set of Sky's steering arms since they are shorter than my Marlin arms. You could move your steering box forward but mine was already plated/reinforced where it is so the arms were way easier.
Also might want to put a small weld on the plates/perch to keep everything in place.
