From someone that's wheeled carbed and EFI... do  yourself a favor and get the EFI running.  Go buy a good shop manual and go through all the diagnostics.

x2                     I would much rather take to time and fix the efi than take the time to put a carb. on and be unhappy later on....What is the problem with your efi????

Just go to the 84-88 how to board and download the FSM its free and will have all EFI diagnostic info so you can fix your truck. EFI is much better than carb in more ways than one.

well i put the motor in and had a bad wiring harness and i was able to pull one of another truck and now when i try to start it it will fire up and then stop before i have a chance to let go of the key then keep cranking and nothing happens but if it seats for a fue minutes it will do the same thing. i talk to one of guys who tech the mechanics at Toyota and he said to find the check connector and get the code from that and i got 11 blinks but he said with that code it should still start but he also said if it has a code the computer will turn off the fuel pump and ignition system
:) nothing worth wheeling other than a YOTA :)
