Need to go .060 over my 22re. Is that bad?
« on: Sep 17, 2007, 08:38:06 AM »
So I finally took apart the 22re in my 92 4x4(blew a head gasket) and found it has a flaw in the cylinder wall too. A mechanic friend of mine told me its eventually going to break a piston ring. Its already been bored .050 over. I was wondering how many people have gone .060 over and if I should worry about running into problems(overheating and whatever else happens when your cylinder walls are paper thin) also where to get pistons? No forged pistons either. Im looking to spend as little money as possible. thank you

better  find pistons first,  i had  to get my .060's  from KB

only  thing  i found  with mine  going .060  was it  wanted to get hot  when under a load,  i put in a v6 radiator  and  its never got over 180*  even when i was hauling 3500 lb trailer in 108* weather
