How much gear oil in dual cases?
« on: Aug 23, 2007, 05:41:05 PM »
I read the install guide and it sais to put 3 quarts of oil in the cases (2 for case) and (1 for adapter). That just seems like not enough gear oil to me. my front case, adapter and rear case are empty it just doesn't seem like 3 quarts will be enough. Oh and my fill plug is rounded off so i'm filling it through the shifter hole thats why I am asking this question!

Weld a big nut on it instead. The heat will help loosen it.

get an air hammer on the bolt head... mine was stuck beyond all hope, i welded a nut onto it, i snapped the welds..... several times.... after about 3 hours, i said ah what the heck... 10 seconds later, the air chisel broke it off

he doesn't have those capabilities, otherwise it would have been off last night.  He doesn't even have a chisel.

According to the FSM a complete single takes 1.7 quarts so 3 quarts you should be fine. You can pour it all in one of the shifters, it will level itself between the two.
