Smurfields, Bellfields, Longfields............
« on: Jun 08, 2007, 04:47:02 PM »
Does anybody still modify stock birfields? I wouldn't mind a set of chromo birfields and shafts but, they're way beyond my means and to be quite honest, really not necessary for my style of wheeling.  I'm pretty easy on my vehicle and only hit the front locker switch when absolutely necessary. I carry spares but, would like to upgrade for a little more peace of mind--------Hans

You can still get Bellfields. I have no way to prove they are stronger than stock, but I run locked with 36 inch TSL's aired down to about 5psi and have yet to break one.

Marlin was selling them. You might check to see if they still do. If they discontinued them you/we might want to know why.
Maybe one of the mods will move this post so you can get more feed back.

It hasn't been so bad, only been around 103 everyday. In fact we had a cooling trend down to the upper 90's this week. We'll see how it goes, I used to live in Hesperia so I know what hot is. Of course it'll be 20 degrees hotter here than there.

I have a brand new set of bell fields sitting here. I posted them on the parts for sale. If any of you are interested I'm only asking 150.00 plus shipping.

I am not sure on that one, I would recommend going through Bell and getting a set that he has re done. These thing really hold up well, you cant beat them for the cost, and yes they are stronger than stock. Some where on here there is a write up on axle stregth. I believe they break some where around 5000 lbs of torque. I would have to look into it. It's a really nice way to go for the money.
