1UZ-FE engine swap
« on: Mar 11, 2007, 10:44:36 PM »
so ive done some research on the lexus/ toyota V8 engine and it seems like the best option when it comes to getting rid of the power deficient 3.0 V6's. Maybe they cost more but they seem to give the best bang for the buck where longevity and total engine weight is concerned. Not looking forward to custom fabing motor mounts, but no one makes them. why don't more people do this swap providing a need for parts?

anyone know if there are motor mounts available to adapt the 1uz to a 3rd gen pickup or 2nd gen 4runner, other than the blueprints for them in the uzswap.com site

lextreme.com has some info. and links to companies in AUS that are active with the 1uz in trucks.  I too would like to go this route but am not ready to be a "pioneer".  Wiring is my nemesis, the install looks to be easy.

ya I'm thinking the venom harness is looking nice for wiring the thing if they can wire it for egr too. but them in aus. and me in california I don't know. Looked at lextreme its pretty comprehensive but i only found one guy thats doing the manufacturing of bellhousings and motor mounts and he isn't done yet so I'm just biding my time with the 3.0

Well, I just dropped the bomb and bought the 1uzfe a couple days ago.  Found a beautiful, clean and very complete takeout of a '94 sc400.  Cali. emmisions came with it, as well as the 4sp. Auto and exhaust.  I'll be putting it in an '87 4runner with SAS and a R151 manual tranny.
I have a bit of time before I can start this project, so maybe it will give some other people a chance to iron out some of the unknowns.  Or maybe I'll end up being that guy, whatever.
I'm just super stoked on finally having more than a couple mice under the hood.
I'll start a build thread once i get going- so you all can laugh and criticize my :pokinit:?  Here or Pirate?
Lots of little things to get before I can start this.
