Transfercase shifter
« on: May 14, 2007, 05:39:07 PM »
I've had a 2" body lift on 4runner for several years now and find the Transfercase has a tendency to pop out of low lock, now I know this is common due to stock shifter boots and minimal throw space.
I'm just questioning whether to install a 'short throw' shifter to minimize 'pop out' or install a 'Dual shifter' to minimize and give me more transfer case shift options.
Thanks for taking the time to help out, DanS

order the twin stick Dan,  then just  trim a little metal around the  body  where the boot goes  so it doesnt bump the shifter when in 4 low

you will LOVE  being able to shift to 2lo

 i know i would

If your budget is tight, a short shifter kit is likely less money.  I ran a twin stick on my 85 truck and have a brand new one for my 89 4Runner and while it is nice, I'm not sure it is worth the price on a tight budget.  Most of the time when I want to shift into 2wd for turning everything is bound up and it won't come out of 4wd anyways.
