Coilover setup worth the money?
« on: Apr 26, 2007, 02:28:42 PM »
I was reading through my FOUR WHEELER magizine last night and came across the new kit from ORS (offroadsolutions) with all the necessary brackets, links, choice of johnny joints or hiem joints, and the coilovers....... its a nice chunk more than marlins SAS kit but how much more articulation would that really yeild?? i'm still thinkin marlins 5 inch lift in the rear but would it be worth the extra $$$$ to just go for the fourlink coilover system up front???? let me know what you guys think about this!!   :beerchug:

Others won't be able to tell you wheather or not its worth while to spend your money on something. I all comes down to what you want. You could wheel a stock open diff 4wd and it be justifyable.

true.... that kit looks badass but i dont know if it would be worth the extra money for the amount of extra flex?? the coilovers are 14" travel and you can get the same from marlin!! i love to have as much flex as possible and i have never dealt with coilovers soo..... i just wanted to see what people with experience in this thought about it.......... and yes, i wheel my ifs toy with open diffs right now and go more places than a lot of jeeps with 350's can go!!!! i am just looking for high quality, very stable, reliable, functional, FLEXY suspension....

If that's the case, a leaf sprung SAS and some lockers will freak you out.

once again, LEAVES. No it's not coils, but it cost a lot less, works better than you think it will, and is PROVEN. Personally, I'd wait a few years to see how the coilover kits work in the world before I threw down that kind of coin for one.

Damn, 3 grand... that it why i am going with MC's SAS kit, cause they have been doing this a lot more than any other company. It also come's down to how much you trust a company and there products, cause i know there are not a lot out there that i like to do bussiness with.. Marlin Crawler is a great company in which i trust in....

I would go leaf sprung for sure....tried and tested...
Wouldn't you want rear coilovers if you had fronts, for a matched suspension?
Now were talking alot of bones...

I have 14" coilovers on my 2wd. there is no compareson with the flex. plus the abuse they can take and that they are rebuildable. you get hella clearance with them and they have all that spring holding down each tire. plus you can ditch your tortion bars too. the ride quality was great too. If only it was a 4x4 then it would have been great....

you can get a Total chaos 4wd kit for about 2600 with 2 race runner coilovers and springs. but you have use t100 cv axles to prevent binding.
also I know a guy that makes coilovers to spec for a fraction of other. I think his 16" coilover with hardware but  without spring is 200 a piece. compared with fox, king or racerunner thats almost 400 off.

On a side note he also makes billet dry sump oil resivoirs for cheap too.
his company is f-o-a shocks. not sure of his url though.
he also makes resi shocks and emulsion to spec.
