uneven front end
« on: Apr 08, 2007, 12:08:17 PM »
I've got an 83 pickup with a 4" pro-comp lift and it looks like the right side of the truck sits a little lower on the front then the left. Is this normal for a toyota or did I just get what I paid for. Is there any way I can correct this?   :help:

Yeah, just get some shims/small blocks depending on how uneven it is and add it to the side that sits lowest to even it up... that is pretty common after springs break in/settle they tend to not be even a lot of the time..... how uneven is it?? 1/2 inch to 1 inch?

I have had this problem with several toys.  for me the prob has been cheap springs, bent springs, and when a total rooky putting them on the wrong side.  On a lot of the springs it is marked which side they go on since as one person said the spring perches are not the same.  Also have had bad springs in the back that will also make the truck sit tweaked.  Another thing that I thought might make it sit funky is the bar thats bolted between the frame and front axle.  I assume its some kind of torsion bar to eliminate wheel hop, but since its on one side I think it could possibly affect the way the rig sits.  good luck and keep us posted on what eliminates the prob.

I had the same problem with my pro comp 4", just recently replaced the front lift springs with a custom rear pack, the pro comps aren't arched different as far as left and right sides like stock springs.

Just put those springs on a buddy of mine's truck but welded on the 3/8" spring pad spacer that marlin has, leveled them right out.

There is a left & right spring. The spring perch on one side is 3/8" lower than the other, thats from the factory. Most spring are made the same so you need to put a 3/8" shim in  :twocents:

with the pro comps there was a left and right leaf pack, but they have the same arch and the truck leans

I think I'm gunna weld a shim to the axle and see if I can lengthen the torsion bar, that aught to do it. you guys  :rockingout:! Thanks for the advice.

Depending on the kit and type of springs and if they accommodate for the perches that are offset on Toyota's it's gonna be a leaner. Marlin's springs for the front are identical and if you don't put the shim supplied it'll lean.

True, I had to put a shim on driver side and now it sits level. :)
