On average, how much oil do your 22REs burn?
« on: Aug 29, 2006, 04:59:49 PM »
Anyone have one or know of one that burns no oil at all? Is it common for relatively new or newly rebuilt 22REs to burn a good qt every 3k ?

I am really interested in building mine to burn NO oil and am thinking of going completely factory.

Every engine is a bit different, but I think that you always lose a bit of oil.  New cars from the factory can lose up to a qt. in 3,000 to 5,000 miles.

With the help of reklund on this board, I rebuilt my motor and burns absolutely no oil during 3-5,000 mile oil changes, with regular driving, however it sometimes looses a little on wheelin' trips. Usually with the 22r the valve seals go out first if you run it low with oil, and from that point on you can count on burning more oil. I wouldn't worry about losing a a quart every oil change though, just make sure it gets added obviously

When I go to the gas station I fill up on oil and check the gas!!! Yeah, that much!!! I was using about 1 qt every 100 miles, thankfully I'm dropping in a new motor right now. I did find out where it was coming from....valve seals!!! :gap:
I don't need a winch, I wheel a TOYOTA!!!!!!!
