i'm finding it's cheaper to buy a new axle rather than buy a new wheel bearing, and have a shop do the press and all the related costs.

my question is i have seen contradicting info on ifs rear axle widths.  pirate faq says 58"  86-95 and i forget where but they said coil sprung rear axles were 1/2" wider at 58 1/2".  i want to buy a 90 4runner rear axle and pull the brake assembly and axle and just slide it into my 88 rear housing.

am i off my rocker?  who knows the truth?

But then you will still have old wheel bearings...
I recomend reading the "HATE THE CONCRETE!" theory of bearing removal...it is on the board somewhere!  It is entertaining and informative!
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5
