I believe you'll have to use the divorced Toyota transfer case to make it work for a 2wd :headscratch:

tranny is different, its cheaper to source a 4x4 tranny.... internally the trannies are the same but the output shafts arent... and the 4x2 tranny would need to have that swapped out

hmmmmm for a 90-95 i am not 100% sure about, but i know the parts were relatively universal at that point... mechanically, the 84-95 4x2s were the same suspensionwise, etc, xcept the addition of the v6 in the late 80s

Divorced, meaning using a driveshaft between the transmission and transfer case.  I had to do that on my Amigo, but I can't promise it'll be the same on Toyota.. that's why the :headscratch: Tomorrow you'll get the big guys on here with real answers :disturbed: I'm just sayin what I think but I'm not sure.....

well, if you buy the 4x2, it would be cheaper to add the tcase and tranny to it than the 4x4, because your going to SAS it anyhow, then you also wont have a crapload of ifs 4x4 parts

How on earth would it be cheaper to use the 2x4? :headscratch: Cuz I'll tell ya what I'da saved quite a few pennies if I coulda used my 4x4 tranny as opposed to the 2x4 tranny.

no what i meant is its easier and cheaper to buy a 2 wheel drive because they are not as expensive as a 4x4.... especially if you are going to SAS the 90-95 anyways, a tranny, tcase, crossmember if you do it right can be had for $250
