take 1 22R early block,80-84

slap a 20R intake, head and timing kit on said block

it can be done but imo  it aint worth the cost of the custom machine work

I don't know how extensive the machining is. I only know the head has to be machined down to 3.130 from the deck to the front cam journal and there's an oil passage that has to be re-machined. After my last post on the subject I did a little research and decided to go another route...I also have a late block.

i think engnbldr said that typically the amount you remove from the head makes it pretty weak structurally.  best just to build up the late 22R head.

you can get a lot more power from a late 22R/E if you cut the block deck to the height of the pistons.
