DANA 44 in 82 pickup

a buddy of mine wants to put a fullsize chevy 44 in his pick up . id like to know whats involved when doing this . is it nessary to cut the long side down or could we have some offset shackles and a new front hanger

the reason were doing this is that he wants the width and in my opinion i think 44's are easier to work on

i would just move the spring perches inboard

thats gonna be really wide

if we were to move the perches inward the perch would be on top of the pumpkin

is the perch right against the pumpkin like a regular  yota ??

why a D44?  A toyota axle is stronger.. the width is the only thing the toyota is lacking which can be easily fixed w/ wheel spacers

it'll involve making your steering longer (draglink)  but a regular marlin hanger kit should be sufficiant. My buddy put a 44 in the front of his Runner and used Marlins hanger kit..  running that longer axle will probably give a little more articulation because the springs further in from the end's of the axle but it'll be unstable.

If your going to run a D44 your going to have to get stronger axles and u-joints.

he wants the width plus he is going to run 5 lug outers so he can put a ford 9'' for strength purposes

have you seen a 44 compared to a toy front plus ive seen to many bent toy housings

89 ext cab sas with diamond +4 1/2" housing 30 spline longs and hub gears, hp elocker, six studs, arp studs in everything, taco rear with elocker. swaped out 22re for 3.4l supercharged, urd 2.0" pulley, urd fuel management, downey headers, flowmaster, cold air intake, marlin clutch that is straining to hold up
