tranny help!!
« on: Dec 26, 2005, 01:36:50 PM »
over time i have developed a real bad wine in 5th and 3rd gear, but recently its gotten worse to where i can barely hear the radio. i know its not good for it but i didnt have the time or the money to replace the tranny. my guess is its the bearings on those gears and it needs a rebuild. but if anybody has a tips or tricks to get a little more life out of it till i can get a tranny please let me know, or if anybody has a tranny for a 91 that would be even better.
thanks

do you have a V6  or 22RE

look on the door jam and see what tranny you have,  im guessing w56  or r150

if you know how to do it you can get the bearings from Marlin  real  cheap

look for your exact tranny code,  the look on Marlins site and see what his tranny rebuild kit costs

Right now it says there's a six week wait.

I ordered a r150 for my 91 about 2 1/2 weeks ago and they told me yesterday it should be done next week so the wait time is more like 3 - 4 weeks. Worth the wait though.

Hey Super

If you have not done ANY trany work, or have access to pullers and a press I wouldn't recommend trying. I've seen tranies

that were rebuilt using the wrong tools and it usually cost the customer some of there core charge. Chipped gears, damaged

shafts & thrust surfaces scored from punches and on an on an on. If you can place an order by early next week CJ & I are

going to the LoneStar Jambo in Jan so if your in our path we could drop it off for ya.

tranny found, thanks for all the help.

Angelo, who all is coming to gilmer, and what are they bringing?

Ive got a real good idea   for Marlin, he should start opening shops nation wide  :usa: , i dont think there would be a problem finding business or employees anywhere.

How bout it, Marlin Crawler Inc. :yesnod:
