mini truck, 2 adults one kid
« on: Apr 21, 2003, 08:08:34 AM »
I know marlin has had the fam in his truck, but how about with a car seat in he middle? Wouldn't be super comfy but I am thinking of ditching my nice buckets for a bench. Anyone stuck a child seat in the middle of a toy bench seat?

I'd be looking for a slimmer seat and hopefully gain some width with the bench..

if you are looking for a great bench look into beard racing seats they make some realy bitchen bench seats
and reasonable prices also like 350 brand new for a yota coustom bench with the comfort of a beard
most people put the beard benches in the back of sandrails but i have a seen two in toyotas and the looked great

barstow is great, calico and the hammers are both within a half an hour  drive.

It might be too wide, but on older I.H.s Travelalls, there was a fold down center seat, that doubled as a armrest, and the bottom flipped up into a storage area, grat place to hide a amp, or a six pack.  I have two of them  hidden in one of my trucks out in a friends yard.  I was gonna throw them in the back of my mini with some seat belts and they would make fine rear seats, but I bobbed the bed and there's no room (not to mention my  friends drink up all the ales)  if your interested ? I'll grab the measurements next time I'm up that way, they are pretty cool.

i have the 60/40 split bench in the truggy.  ive sat in it 3 a breast and it sucked, nearly bumped my son in the face, chest or nutz everytime i wanted to shift the crawl box or hit reverse quick.  i imagine a rear facing baby seat would be really cramped.  also the drivers side bench section cant move forward very far without hitting the rear Tcase lever, which i had to bent the heck out of for the same reasons...

dustin found a poly bench seat with a cover for pretty cheap to put isaac in, i think hes about your sons age age?  i wont take my new son on the trail until hes at least 2 and has fully developed muscles in his neck to support his head.  ill cut the back out of the 'cab' and put a bench in the rear that can safely mount a baby seat, like a jeep fold and tumble, or ill chain/strap down the base portion of the baby seat...

I'd like to see what these look like, sounds cool. I debated ditching the passenger seat for a permanent mount child seat, but it will be a bit yet - Scout will be 2 in sept.

actually  when i had my sammy, my girlfriend and i always put these little goggle like safety glasses on the kids so bugs wouldnt put an eye out :o  the 2year olds  looked like little red baron goggles,  i wish i had a pic those were the good ole days :chug:

can you picture 4 couples  :chug:and a keg  in a samurai, in the river bottoms,  this one buddy of mine thought it cool to ride on the roll bar, and put his feet on top of the windsheild,  we were slipping down a trail about 30 mph  and came on a deep ditch,  we hit the ditch and stopped, but dude fleww off the roof and landed like a cat in knee deep goo :smack:if we had been sober,  we'd have probably all been killed

Brandon...

I have a bench seat that I swap in when taking both my daughters... it's a tight fit.

I imagine that with the car seat in the center, it would be even tighter.

Also, if you young'en starts kicking around, no telling which lever he might kick in or out...

I used Subaru Brat seats in the bed.  Faced 'em backwards, less bugs.  California says seats in the bed of a truck must be DOT approved.  Brat seats are the only ones DOT has ever approved.
Some idiots are too busy knowing it all, to ever learn anything...
