I get PM's all the time about my Sammy so I am going make a build up thread. Here it is when I got it.I drove it for a few months and then decided that I want to lift it. Some searching on here told me that I needed a SPOA, good shocks, extended brake lines, driveshaft spacers and some steering correction. A quick google search brought me to the RRO site. After looking around there a bit I decided that I wanted the 5" bolt on SPOA. I ordered mine with the Doetsch shocks and missing links for the rear. For the steering I went with the death link. That made it look like this. Then I put some 31x10.50x15 enforcer mud terrains on 15x8 rims with 2.75 BS. that made it look like this.Next up was a locker install and the RRO Stage 1 OTT. Here is how that went.I got my OTT today ;D , so I thought that I would take some pictures while I did the install.beforeTo get started get the truck up on some jackstands.Remove the pass. side front tire, caliper w/ bracket and brake rotor. Next remove the the four bolts for the plate that holds the king pin in place. I removed the plate by prying up on both sides with small pry barsMy truck had some shims in there so I put them back in when I reassembled itThen make sure that the surface is clean where the new parts meet the old and then you can start putting in back together.Start that by putting the new arm on where the old plate was.Replace the short bolts that came off with the plate with the new ones in your kit. Put the studs that came with the kit in to the caliper bracket. Then I test fit the caliper to make sure that it would fit. I found that the caliper was hitting the new steering arm so I had to grind a little off to make room for the calipers. Once I was sure that everything would fit I slid the caliper w/ bracket and rotor all back on the hub together. I had to do it that way because of the studs that now hold the caliper bracket. Then tighten the nuts the go on the new studs. Now you can attach the new drag link. With all that done it will look like this. Now I removed my death link and hooked the new drag link to the pitman arm. Then recheck to make sure that every thing is tight, put the tire back on and go for a nice ride in the greatly improved steering Sammy. When you get back make the necessary adjustments to get the steering wheel straight. For the money and time it took to get this done I have to say that it is the best mod that I have done.Finished productI drove it and wheeled it like this for almost a year and then came some Tcase gears. No pics of that but they are the calmini 5.14:1 set that I got from Spidartrax with a set of their Tcase ares to mount it all up.
I am going to catch this thread up to my current set up, cause it's about to get nasty. After wheeling with the 31's SPOA, rear locker and gears I wanted some more. I got a Sky front YJ kit on ebay. Then for the back I used a combination of RRO missing links that I had and Aftermarket 4x4 YJ plates for the back. I used the same rear shocks, just had to make some new lower mounts. On the front I did the F250 shock towers. Then it got some 35x12.50x15 mud terrains. Here are some pics of all that fun.with the 35'sThen the 35 turned into 33x12.50x15 boggers. After that came the ZOR front bumper. This is how I modified the Sky ML bumpstops to fit my bumper.I also won some of these. ;D
Here is what it looks like now, with a few action shots to prove it goes off the pavement. ;D It also got a spool in the rear, twin stick and a front locker.
Made some progress today. Sold the boggers, got the yota and got some of the parts I'm going to need of the yota. Here are a few pics of what my Sammy looks like now.
Here is a sneak peek. That is a 38.5x15x15 off my dad's tracker. ;D If all goes well I will be running 38.5x11.00x16 boggers.
This is with my tire on it. Mine is going to be about half way between where it is in this pic and the big one next to it.
Any updates??
