transmission shifter linkage
« on: Jul 28, 2005, 05:48:03 PM »
my brother lost the linkage that connects the transmission shifter to the slave cylinder on a 79' transmiission.

does anyone have one, or can take measurements and a pic so we can make one.  We'd appreciate it

thanks

    My bad, you're right, that doesn't make much sense now that i think about it.  My brother usually doesn't know what he's talking about.  Let me clear this up a little.  Would have been easier bcause i found one at the yard, and didn't take a close look at it, and the next day it was gone.

So, on say my 83 transmission, the shifter goes right into the top of the transmission and that's it.  On the older model the shifter goes down the pass. side of the tranny and supposedly has a linkage of somekind or something which actually shifts through th side of the tranny.  My dad and brother said there is a slave cylinder looking thing there, seperate from the clutch slave cylinder.

Does anyone know what i am talking about.  Or can someone just take a good pic of that area if you have this transmission.

Sorry about the nonsense :king:

Early (79-80) models had side shifters, L43 trans.  He's looking for the piece that goes between the shifter and the side cover.

Try this  http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=366842  whole trans for $100.00

Right on dudes...i (and my bro)  appreciate the help.  I am having him check out the pics to see what he needs, then i will let you know what piece it is.  You have some spares lying around you could get rid of for cheap.
