What model landcruiser?
FZJ 80's have a larger birf. Still an 8" but reverse cut gears so its stronger than the standard mini truck 8".
The earlier cruisers have a larger r&p, but birfs are the same. Except for the very early cruisers that have coarse spline birfs (real junk)
44 IMO isn't worth the switch. Put the new moly longfields in a yota and it will be way stronger.

the front end im using is out of an fj 55,i think they run the same size axles etc as a hilux.these are the same width as the original hilux front end.what size would the r&p be?is there any mods to be made in order to fit the better birfs?
ive never broke a cruiser r&p,but i have broke hilux ones, front and rear.ive also gone through alot of std hilux birfs(i call them cv's)

ive got a 44 out of a f100,if it had of been a better setup than the cruiser i would have done the conversion, but it sounds like im better off sticking to the cruiser front end.

The fj55 front is basiclly the same as an fj40 front to my knowledge. The birfield are pretty much the same as a mini truck (hilux). If you're still breaking birfields i'd put in the chromoly longfields. Comes with inner and outer axles.
I'm surprised you've broken so many ring and pinions. Until recently i've never had a ring and pinion failure due to wheelin. The only reason i'm having a prob now is 200hp, 38" tires and a heavy rig.
The longfields are kind of pricey, but it would still be cheaper than making the 44 as strong as the yota would be with new axles.
