EFI to 20R head
« on: Feb 05, 2003, 04:13:05 AM »
I would like to see someone come up with a bolt on adapter to mount a 22RE intake manifold to a 20R head. I have herd of TIG welding it but I don't like the idea of not being able to remove the manifold. If anyone has seen something like this let me know.

It's out there already.  I have a 20r/22r hybrid motor from D.O.A. racing, and was interested in getting a EFI  intake on.  Turns out Tim Jenkins of D.O.A. can make you the adapter to bolt on; sandwiched between the EFI intake and the 20r head.  Though Tim said it was easy to do, you have to drill out a hole in your 20r intake  :sob:  for the coolant passages, and also drill and tap some new bolt holes for the adapter and intake since the 20r doesn't match up :smack:

I decided I'll wait until I have to rebuild the head, and then swap in a late 22r EFI head.  Or just sit and see who is gonna figure out a throttle body  injection for the early toy motors, I have a Holley 4bbl now, and it wouldn't be to hard to move over too  set that

Call Tim for more info (you can get his number off his website doa racing).  Good Luck!!!!
