My current steering gear box (in a 1991 4Runner 22re with slightly larger tires than stock) is in need of a replacement due to a very noticeable yet not yet catastrophic leak. I'm wondering what the consensus is with the power flow from trail gear.
Steering is kinda important so it would be best to not cut corners. I could try and rebuild the current unit for significantly less or buy a reman from LCE or Marlin. However, I'm lacking experience in rebuilding it and don't want to chance a worse failure. Buying a Reman would be a good option but I'm concerned about developing the same leak (not sure what caused it so I don't know what to fix to ensure it won't happen again). Is the power flow worth the ~ $600 price for longevity? Is it a quality unit?
Thanks Crawler!!
