loosing power?
« on: Apr 18, 2005, 10:34:24 PM »
Every once in a while ill be driving down the road and the motor feels like it loses half of its power, I push in the clutch and the idle is cut in half, i put it to the floor and it will only rev to 4000 rpm and it barely pulls its own weight, and then all of a sudden its starts to run smooth again and everything is back to normal.
I thought it was the gas cap that i replaced so i drilled some holes in it to let the fuel tank breath and thats not it, replaced the fuel filter and that wasnt it, dont think its the fuel pump cause it runs fine most of the time, replaced teh ground cable from the battery to the frame, checked the distributer and everything looks fine, has been through 4 tanks of gas, 2 bottles of octane booster and a swift kick in the tailgate and still have not fixed teh problem, so if anybody has any suggestion they would be much appreciated
Thanks

You should do a compression test and check the oil for water, sometimes blown headgaskets do weird things.   :turtle:  :usa:

check for a loose connection at your airflow sensor,  check the airflow  sensor itself,
make sure your O2 sensor is not shorting on a hot manifold
