Topic: front inner bearing

85 front axle
installed inner race, bearing and seal
The race is seated properly and the seal is flush with the backside of wheel hub

Question: should the bearing be a snugged fit while sandwiched between the race and seal? I'm able to wiggle it up and down just a tad bit

If you mean just sitting on the bench in front of you, you'll get movement.  When mounted to the spindle and properly tightened, no movement should be present.    The seal is there to keep the grease in and crap out, not to keep the bearing from moving.
