New B T-Case Question
« on: Feb 29, 2016, 07:04:31 AM »
I just picked up a 1984 Yota with double case. if I do not move the forward shift first the crawl case pin falls out or the rails when I shift the crawl case shifter.  It seems that I do have a option for two wheel drive.  I am missing something here?

sounds like nobody cut the drivers side shift rail on the rear case, or if you are referring to twin sticks on rear case, there is a center pin between rails that needs to be removed in order for twin stick set up to operate properly

Its the Passenger side that is not moving, the Driver side moves.

So are you saying that you have a dual case set up with twin stick shifter in the rear case? When you say forward shifter. Is this a forward shift front case or a top shift case?

So thats your crawlbox, a.k.a front case.this is strictly a gear reduction shifter.2wd/4wd is shifted in your rear case.without a twin stick in the rear case you dont have the option for 2wd lowxlow.

I will try to post some pics tonight.  I got a hold of the previous owner and he said the back stick high and low, the front stick is high low and two wheel drive.  So the J Pattern is the Front stick not the Back stick.  is this possible???

no, you need to remove the section of the transfer case that has the front drive flange in order to install the adapter, the most rearward case will have 2wd/4wd, (4hi/4lo). front case is strictly hi/lo

Like he said it is impossible for the front shifter to do anything other than just make a straight pattern from high to low. The rear case will have the j pattern if it only has a single shifter. If someone has installed a twin stick in the rear case it will be high and low on the left stick and 2wd to 4wd on right stick. You can't post pictures yet you don't have enough posts. Pm me the url from your photobucket and ill post them if you'd like.
