1FZJ80 + R151F Turbo + HF2AV = possible?
« on: May 05, 2015, 07:02:00 AM »
I searched every where, and was hoping the experts could shed some light for me. Else where (in the world  :)) The factory 1FZJ comes with a factory H151F 5 speed manual. I am kinda having hard time sourcing one; therefore, hoping I could use the R151F turbo instead. Is it possible? Appreciate the info

it sounds like the h151f is a heavy duty trans vs the r151f, here's a link http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/toyota-land-cruiser/179249-h151-vs-r151.html

Yes I have seen that thread. From what I can tell, H151F seems heavier but not sure what that really means - are the gears made out of different materials? Gear ratios are different. Supras are putting out more than 2 times hp and torques than a stock 1FZJ80 and using R154 I think. Some of them seems to be running R151 as well...not sure.

No is the simple answer unless you want to spend a small fortune having adapters made. Your best bet is finding an r151 and split case combo out of a 70 series, they came fitted behind 1hz motors.
The h151 is massive almost like a zf five speed truck transmission; input is bigger clutch is bigger case is bigger and a crap load heavier, if you want to run a hfv case you will need to run the a440f auto or the h151/150 manual there is not adapters available. What engine are you running this lot behind, whats your budget?
