Topic: '97 3RZ exhaust header options and cat questions.

Have a '97 3RZ going into my '85 4Runner.  I have the stock exhaust manifold from the donor, with no cracks - yet.  I'm aware that it may not stay that way.   I don't have a mini-header style manifold from a later model to look at, do they have the same dimensions as the earlier manifolds?  If I have the muffler shop build my exhaust off the stock manifold, can I upgrade to the miniheader style later without modifying the rest of the exhaust again?

Also, I don't have the rest of the exhaust and my google-fu is failing me - what was the stock catalytic converter setup on a 97 manual trans Tacoma? Just a single cat with upstream and downstream sensors, right?

yes. you can use the manifold you have now, build off of it and upgrade later. The cat has an o2 sensor before and after, thats correct. just keep things in the proper configuration and you can locate them anywhere. check out page 3 of my build. link is in my signature
