I had a noise that sounded like a bad bearing that got worse the faster I went and would go away when coasting or very light load. At 85 MPH I thought it was going to grenade.
I couldn't accept it was because I had a non CV driveshaft. My U-joints and drive shaft angles were all within acceptable limits. I had checked the oil and drain plug magnets for metal and found none. I was still convinced I had a bad bearing. I tore my trans and T-cases apart like a dumbass and found nothing wrong.
I finally had a CV drive shaft made, bought some new spring perches and rotated my rear axle for the correct drive shaft angle. No noises, no vibration, no problems.
