Hi guys, its been a while since I've been here and posted. I am starting a project to bring my Toyota 4Runner back to life. I have had her for 6 years now and for the 4 years I have all but abandoned her. She runs rough, I wouldn't hesitate to take her on a long trip but I do notice that she is sluggish in response and wont go over 55 mph with the throttle wide open. I did a dry and wet compression test on all 4 cylinders and found that cyl 1 was at 155 psig when dry and 160 with wet the rest of the cylinders were all to spec (170 to 180 psig). According to the service manual if there is more than a 15 psig difference between any of the cylinders something might be up with the ring seals or a stuck open valve. Also when I took out the plugs (NGK single tips) all four were fouled with black carbon.
I am at a loss, what do you suggest about my No.1 cylinder low pressure condition? What about the carbon black plugs? I am running 8mm Hi-performance wires with a hi-voltage coil that i installed 5 years ago.
P.S. to do the wet compression test I used the 3 in 1 oil. Couldnt find my motor oil pump and I didnt want to make a mess.
