AZ: Fully built 4Runner crawler for sale or trade
« on: Oct 18, 2005, 10:43:55 PM »

VEHICLE
1987 4Runner SR5, about 7,000 miles on new drivetrain. Clean title in my possession, registered, street legal and passes AZ smog. Current plates.

MOTOR
Toyota 22RE with fresh rebuild using factory new Toyota turbo pistons, bored .030, 8.0:1 compression, Calico coated bearings, adjustable timing chain with steel guides, new turbo head, new factory turbo valves, bronze valve guides, supercharger built by Fageol superchargers for a fuel-injected 22re. 5 pounds of boost. New cat and easily passes AZ emissions. EGR is removed but included. Brand-new Optima redtop battery and underhood ARB compressor with fresh solenoids to power lockers.

TRANSMISSION
23-spline R151F Turbo transmission, five-speed, 4.31 first gear.

TRANSFER CASES (DUAL)
Marlin dual 23-spline transfer cases. Front case is 23-spline stock 2.28:1 gears, rear is 4.7:1 Marlin gears. Marlin adapter. Budbuilt crossmember. Overall crawl in low-low-first is 245:1.

FRONT AXLE
85 solid front axle, ARB air locker, 5.29 gears, new Longfield 30-spline chromo inners and outers and fresh complete rebuild kit (felts, seals, bronze bushings, etc.). Has 1.5-inch wheel spacers. Vented font discs. Rancho 9012 shocks on Ford shock towers.

REAR AXLE
Rear axle is 1987 wide rear housing with V6 third member, 5.29s, ARB air locker (freshly rebuilt with all-new seals). TSM rear disc brakes and trick hydraulic e-brake setup. RS 9000 shocks /\.

STEERING
IFS box securely frame mounted plumbed for hydraulic assist. Sweet Bros. 8-inch ram on custom mount. All Pro high-steer arms and linkage

BODY
Typical trail rig with some Bondo and dents. Bed bobbed 13 inches with custom soft top. Painted Aervoe mil-spec OD green. Has quick-release full working doors (with AOR inserts) as well as AOR tube doors. Also has hood scoop and cool weight-saving aluminum tailgate.

SUSPENSION
All-Pro 5-inch springs all around.

WHEELS/TIRES
38.5x14.50 Super Swamper SX, about 65 percent on 15x10 2.5bs wheels. Includes full spare in same condition.

PROTECTION/WINCH
Custom tube bumpers (built by HeyBeerMan) front and rear with receiver in rear and stinger up front. New 9k Warn Tabor winch with one pull in custom mount inset into grill. Square tube sliders.

INTERIOR
OK shape, a little dirty, but no major damage. SR5 seats are a little dirty but complete and comfortable. All guages work (except fuel cage which is disconnected), including clineometer, Smittybuilt bolt-in cage, 15 gallon RCI aluminum fuel cell behind pass. seat, in-dash CD player and four speakers. No rear seat.

SPARES
One 27-spline ringed Longfield joint with both long and short inner as trail spares, bed mat and all associated small parts plus an unused Haynes manual.

PRICE/TRADES
Price reduced: $9,000. This rig is extremely well-built and complete with exceptional attention to detail. It's completely turnkey, get in and go wheel. I will entertain trade offers of a similarly built Jeep; I prefer Willys or CJ5 but will consider others or built FJ40s.

Where did you get that hood? I'd like one for my third gen truck. Looks really sweet and i'd like to make it semi functional for extra cooling of the engine compartment.

Shamb: Thanks, again, man. It's a cool rig, I'm just ready for something different. No big deal either way; it's wheeling season here.  :sly:

As for the scoop, it's just an aftermarket scoop (like JEGS), grafted on a Toy hood.

Im curious as to how much articulation it has front and rear, you wouldn't happen to have any pics would you?

The rear shackle angle looks almost strait up and down, I know from personal experiance it hurts my truck with rear articulation.

How well does that supercharger work on the 22re?
If you were closer to Denver I would be interested.

Works pretty well, but 5 pounds of boost is conservative. Denver's not so far, drive down and trailer it home.

Find any pics with the soft top on and interior?

Maybe some articulation shots?

There's a bunch of interior pics on the yahoo link in the first post. I know I had some flex and shots with the top on, but they seem to have disappeared. I'll keep checking.

OK, found some older pics on my other laptop. Bear in mind, these are what the rig used to look like before the current tires, bumpers, winch, etc. But they do reflect how it looks with the full doors and soft top. Follow this link to check them out:

freakin awesome, I just love the way that think looked with those MTRS and soft top attached.

Sweet looking rig, how well does the driverside door close with the full doors on?  I see theres a bit more carnage on that side now and a missing plastic efi cover behind the driverside door.

The plastic cover just pops on and off; it was off in the pics, but it's not damaged. Don't think the driver's door seal is disturbed; the doors are over in my storage unit along with the top, so I'll go pick them up and reinstall them when someone buys the rig.
