Front axle beef up
« on: May 10, 2004, 02:31:07 PM »
So far I have Ordered 300M inners 1.5 inches longer than stock to match the rear axle, the wider the axle the more the reach. Rotated the Bells, spring perches, Steering bump stops and shock mounts 6 degrees on the axle tube. Tomorrow I add in machined 1.5 inch extentions to each end and reinsert the bells. I have ready to install FJ 60 front vented rotors, a set of calipers I rebuilt off an 88 toyota pickup which require a 3/16ths spacer for the rims to clear the calipers. I have trussed the top of the tube from pumkin to spring perch on the long side and will be sleeving the ends to reinforce the extensions. I hope the news of 300M birfs isn't just a pipe dream.
I am putting 51 inch rear leaf mains off an 95 Toy pickup with a length of 21.5 for the front half mated to a set of Alcans with their eyes cut off and the second of the mains shortened and inch or so for an even spread of the leaf ends. The rear half of the front springs are mated to a 7 3/4 inch long shackle connected to a chevy short shackle for a little extra reach. Same shackle set up in the rear connected to a 54 inch long set of springs off a 2003 quad cab 4x4 pickup and a 88 rear axle. Hope I didn't miss anything in my planning  :hahaha:  :beerchug:

You know a fj60 front housing would have been the correct width.
Also rotating the knuckle balls 6 degrees is right on but i am curious what thats gonna make ur pinion angle.  Seems like it would be.pretty steep.
